Michael Henry Mike “Lightning” Sardina (1951–2006) proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. A Milwaukee native, Sardina entered military service following high school and deployed to Vietnam in 1970. During his service, he reportedly performed with a band made up of fellow Marines while serving overseas. After returning home, he built a successful music career, becoming widely known as “Lightning” of the popular husband-and-wife Neil Diamond Tribute entertainment duo Lightning & Thunder. Though remembered by many for his music and stage presence, Sardina was also a proud Vietnam veteran whose military service helped shape his life and resilience. He passed away July 27, 2006 at the age of 55.
