Burt Bacharach – American composer, songwriter, record producer, and pianist – (ARMY) – drafted into the United States Army in 1950 and served for two years. He was stationed in Germany and played piano in officers’ clubs there, and at Fort Dix, and Governors Island. During this time, he arranged and played music for dance bands. Bacharach met the popular singer Vic Damone while they were both serving in the army in Germany.[20] Following his discharge, Bacharach spent the next three years as a pianist and conductor for Damone – Died: February 8, 2023

Yogi Berra – Hall of Fame Baseball Player, Coach – (Navy WWII) – During World War II, Berra served in the United States Navy as a gunner’s mate on the attack transport USS Bayfield during the Normandy landings. A Second Class Seaman, Berra was one of a six-man crew on a Navy rocket boat, firing machine guns and launching rockets at the German defenses on Omaha Beach.
