After the attack on #PearlHarbor that December\, he requested a transfer to #ArmyAirForces as a glider pilot because of his civilian flying experience. Graduating the #AdvancedGliderSchool with the #GliderPilot #aeronautical rating and the rank of #FlightOfficer\, he volunteered for hazardous duty with the #1stAirCommandoGroup. \n\n\n \n\n\nIn December 1943\, the unit was sent to India.
